The programme of official matches of “Prometey” in the first month of 2023 implies two matches per week. Herewith, starting from the last Wednesday, the "red and white" will alternate games in the 7DAYS EuroCup and the Latvian-Estonian League. Having attained a difficult victory three days ago in Lithuanian Panevezys against local "Litkabelis", Ronen Ginzburg's team switched to the LEBL game programme today.
The match started with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of Russian terror in Dnipro. In this confrontation, far less dangerous opponent opposed our team – Latvian club “Valmiera GLASS VIA”, however it turned out to be not a problem free for “Prometey”. At the same time, the hosts of the court needed only 4 first minutes to establish their lead in the score at a double-digit mark (17:6). The rival could not oppose our guys anything in their own 3-second zone and James Dickey scored 5 points in this game segment. About the same mark –“+10”- was the handicap of “Prometey” when, before the siren for the first break, “Valmiera” player Niks Salenieks made a spectacular buzzer.
At the beginning of the second quarter, the guests managed significantly improve defensive actions, which allowed them to reduce their lag to 4 points (31:35). At the start of 18th minute, there were a distance of one possession between the teams (42:40). “Prometey” clearly lacked their firm ardour.
The “Red and white” demonstrated their far higher class already in the second half of the game. Quick attacks and open throws started working for them and “+4” after two quarters turned into “+18” just within 7 minutes.
In the last 10-minute segment, guests clearly ran out of strength. Yet 3 minutes before the final siren, Ronen Ginzburg’s squad overcame a mile-stone of 100 points with a handicap “+30” (101:71), and after some time the scoreboard highlighted the final winning figures for "Prometey": 104:75.
Our team got so necessary positive emotions to get ready for the next EuroCup battle. On January 18, our club will host Italian “Brescia”.
