Today's confrontation between "Prometey" and Slovenian club "Cedevita Olimpija" had a very important sports component for our team, which could be divided into two parts. Firstly, today's match without any doubt could be called "to enter the play-off" ("Prometey" victory with any score allowed to solve this task early). Secondly, the six-match winning streak in the tournament, and, the main thing, the team's level of play in these matches, strengthened its authority on the European arena very much. Many experts on the continent consider "Prometey" one of the main favourites of the tournament. Now, the best club of Ukraine has to meet these ratings in all EuroCup matches, particularly when hosting a team that at the time of the confrontation was closing the group tournament standings.
At the same time, "Cedevita Olimpija" demanded an appropriate respectful treatment. The debut of the match, which was started with a silence moment in memory of people died in Turkey and Syria after the earthquake, proved this. It was difficult for hosts to come into the game. For the first time, they took the lead (7:6) at the end of the 3rd minute, when Denys Lukashov hit a long-range shot. Slovenians also successfully attacked from the perimeter, hitting quite a lot of mid-range shots. In the second quarter, "Prometey" within 78 seconds arranged a 9:0 spurt for the first time in the match and set its handicap on a double-digit mark - 34:24. "Cedevita Olimpija" continued "staying into the game" mostly due to the efforts of its leaders Adams, Ferrell and Omic. At the same time, "Prometey" excellently attacked from a long-range distance: DJ Stephens and Denys Lukashov scored three times in the quarter. This allowed our team to go to the lobg break with an advantage of three possessions - 52:43.
In the second half of the match, "Prometey" completely controlled the game. In the third quarter, the percentage of successful three-point shots of the hosts continued exceeding 50 (DJ Stephens was on fire with 6 successful attempts out of 8 (!)). Caleb Agada stood out with his excellent individual drives, and the whole team acted reliably in defense.
The question about the winner of today's match was removed long before the final siren. Our team, who played a very high-quality match, coping with all tasks they had!
