"Aris" of Greece is the rival of "Prometey" in the first round of the BKT EuroCup playoffs

Based on the results of the BKT EuroCup regular season, “Prometey” came forth in Group A. This gave it the right to play the match of the Playoff first stage at the home arena. The “titans” will play against the fifth team of Group B – Greek “Aris”.

The rival of “Prometey” represents the city of Thessaloniki and has over 100-year history (basketball club "Aris" was established in 1922).

"Aris" is a 10-time champion of Greece and a 7-time winner of the national Cup. The "golden" era of the club fells on the period between the 80s and early 90s of the last century. During this period, "Aris" won championships 8 times.

The rival of “Prometey” accomplished significant achievements at the Euroarena as well. In 1993, it won the FIBA European Cup, and in 1997 - the Korac Cup. From 1988 to 1990, "Aris" consistently participated in the Final Four of the Champions Cup (antecessor of the Euroleague).

Last summer, "Aris" returned to European club competitions after a four-year break. In Group B BKT EuroCup, the team achieved a 50 percent win rate (9 in 18 matches), and did not manage to win against the top-three teamce even once.

On the other hand, before its final match of the BKT EuroCup regular season, “Aris” in the Greek championship defeated on the road the Euroleague participant “Panathinaikos” (73:70). The team is currently the 4th in their national league and has a 4-match winning streak in all competitions.

“Aris” has 7 legionnaires in its roster: 4 Americans (guards Roberto Gallinat and Jonathan Stark, a swingman Ronnie Harrell Jr, forward Kris Bankston), bigman Ismael Sanogo has the passports of the Ivory Coast and the USA, Silvio De Sousa represents Angola, another forward Roberts Blumbergs is from Latvia.
