During this off-season period, Arnoldas Kulboka became one of “Prometey” newbies. “Prometey” press-service asked Arnoldas about our first opponent, Lithuanian “Gargzdai”, and his thoughts about Lithuanian National team’s chances at the World Cup.
- Arnoldas, tell us, please, for how long you have wavered after getting an offer to continue your career in our club. Were the negotiations long or did everything work out quickly?
- “Prometey” is a good club of a high level, one of the real contenders for winning the Eurocup. And this is the right place to continue my career. I had a talk with the coach Ronen Ginzburg. I believe I am able to help this team. So signing a contract with “Prometey” was an easy decision for me.
- Mantas Sernius and Mantas Valchiukaitis, the coaches from Lithuania work for “Prometey”. Did you know them before joining our team?
- We did not know each other personally, but I heard about them. I have been following basketball all through my life, so of course I knew them. But we have never communicated before.
- It is the last days of the summer. How did you spend it, how was your holiday?
- After the season ended, I enjoyed my leisure time with my family - my wife and son. Then I started working, I have trained for several weeks in Spain, worked out with a personal trainer at home. Summer always slips by very quickly.
- Please, share your impressions on the first week of practising with "Prometey". What have you been doing at practice sessions these days?
- This is just the start of preparation. It is difficult to tell anything interesting, since for now, this is the very beginning, ordinary physical work.
- Last season, you played against “Prometey” in the EuroCup quarterfinals as part of the Greek “Promitheas”. So, you know our team a little bit. What iwould you like to note?
- I know that “Prometey” is a good organization. We had no problems here last season. “Prometey” has changed a lot this offseason, having quite a lot of new legionnaires joined, so, compared to the last year it's a completely different team. I think “Prometey” will be even stronger than the previous season.
- Let's introduce you a bit to our fans. What role do you expect to play in "Prometey"? Has it been discussed with the coach?
- I am here to help the team in exactly the way the coach tells me. I think I am able to give the team the same things I was giving my previous clubs. Our coach, Ronen Ginsburg, knows pretty well how to make me as useful as possible for the team.
- On August 31, "Prometey" is playing its first control match. What do you know about our opponent – “Gargzdai”?
- I know a bit, of course,as I am from Lithuania. However, I am not too familiar with who will play there this season. Previous season, “Gargzdai” was not very successful (the 11th place in LKL, 6 wins, 27 losses - author's note). But, we will see - another season, different team, you never know what the opponent can surprise you with at the very start of preparations.
- I am not going to ask if you're watching the current basketball World Cup, and who you are cheering for, that's obvious. Let me ask you, what do you think about Lithuanian National team and its chances at the World Cup?
- You know, this is the World Cup, everything can be decided in one single game or at most in two ones. Any team may lose to any other. However, Lithuania got off to a good start and went through the first group stage undefeated. I hope, they go as far as possible, and who knows, maybe even win medals.
- What are you goals for the next season along with “Prometey”?
- My goals are to win as many matches as possible, to improve as a player, as a teammate and, of course, I always strive to win and to attain a title.
- Thank you for the interview. Say, please, some more words personally to our fans, who are glad to see you defending “Prometey” colours and are already pending the new season.
- Hello to all “Prometey” fans! I hope, you will see me quite often next season and I believe I can help “Prometey” to obtaine many victories and a lot of amazing memories for you!
