The final matches of the first stage of the tournament will take place on February 5-7 in the first group of the national championship among the teams of the High League. The matches on Saturday and Sunday in Slobozhansky of our "Prometey-2-DDTU" and BC "Mariupol" are quite outstanding. Before the last paired tour of the first stage of the competition, the rivals took the first two lines of the group standings, but Dmytro Markov's team has one victory more. The coach of the "red and whites" before the two-match confrontation with the main competitor shared the mood of his wards:
"The guys are very responsible for future matches and, as always, are ready to win both matches of the tour. My wards are well aware that their success not only guarantees first place in our group in the first stage of the championship, but also that the victories over the teams from the first four of the group will be taken into account in the next stage of the tournament. I am happy that all guys are healthy, desire to fight and want to please our fans in the games with serious opponents."
It is clear that the castling at the top of the standings is possible only with full success in the tour of the Mariupol club, and the victory of "Prometey-2-DDTU" in at least one match will make them one of the two winners of the first stage of the championship. "Mariupol" played quite mediocre in the first month of the new year: in the away tours in Dnipro and Cherkasy Serhiy Zavalin's team won only once.
Nevertheless, the potential of the Azov club is obvious, and our youth will face difficult matches, the same as in Mariupol last November. Then "Prometey-2-DDTU" was stronger in the first match (70:66), but lost by two points in the second one (72:74), when they were also close to success.
