"Prometey" will end the next working week with two control matches against Lithuanian clubs. On September 9, "Juventus" from the city of Utena will be the opponent of our team. The match will take place exactly one week after the "red and whites" opened the program of control games.
The break between the matches with "Lavian University" and "Juventus" was devoted to planned training work, which at the same time had a flexible nature. If the basketball players, having received sufficient physical load on one of the days, the next day, instead of two training sessions, one could be held.
Serhiy Pavlov and Oleksandr Sizov, as well as several young Latvian players, have been working with “Prometey” since the very beginning of the Latvian gathering. The boys are currently looking for a new club in a status of free agents. Both Serhiy and Oleksandr have a chance to play against “Juventus” tomorrow, so does Dustin Hogue, who joined the team a few days ago. At the same time, Odgers Silins can’t participate in the match as he has already found a club. On the part of Latvian players, "Prometey" will be assisted by Mantvidas Stanulis and Rihard Kuksis. This completely understandable: the National teams of Ukraine and the Czech Republic have not yet completed their performances at EuroBasket, and our team has already secured participation in the playoffs. The “Prometey” rival represents the small Lithuanian town of Utena with a population of 25,000. Utena is one of the oldest towns in Lithuania, which has been mentioned in written sources since 1261. "Juventus" is a fairly reputable club in its homeland. Twice in 2008 and 2009, they became the winners of the regular Lithuanian championship, and in 2011 the team achieved the highest success in the Baltic League. Four years ago, "Juventus" reached the quarterfinals of the FIBA Europe Cup, where they lost in two matches to the Italian "Avellino".
