In support of the initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, basketball club “Prometey” joins the “Honesty Marathon”.

Dear basketball sport community, a full-scale blood-shedding war has been going on in our country for almost a year. Every day, Ukrainians risk their lives for the sake of their independent country.

Every day of the war takes away our heroes on the battlefield: ordinary Ukrainians who took up arms in order to protect their homeland from Russian invaders. Every day, Russian missiles create terror for the civilian population, taking lives of children, women - all those who fall to these terrible attacks. Such a terroristic act has recently taken the lives of over 50 people at once; more than a hundred lost their homes. They were ordinary people who were spending the weekend with their close ones. Every day, Ukrainians shed their blood, lose their families and relatives, and lose their homes in the civilised twenty first century!

We are extremely sad and offended to find out that in these terrible times for Ukraine and the entire world, the International Olympic committee is considering the possibility of participation of Russian and Belarussian athletes under neutral flags in the 2024 Olympic Games. Possibility for countries that have started this bloody war, which the whole world, not only Ukraine is suffering from. A possibility for countries that commit genocide of an entire nation. 

We call on the entire international sports community to take drastic steps and prevent representatives of aggressor countries from entering the Olympic Games, their qualification from this and other international sports events  until these countries stop their military terror in Europe.

We support the decision of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine, in the event that these countries are accepted to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, to boycott all possible competitions within Olympic qualifications, possible qualifications with participation of National teams of Ukraine and Ukrainian teams 3x3 in particular.

We call on the entire civilised world to join this boycott in the event of participation of aggressor countries in the competitions, as only together we can stop and prevent executioners and murderers from leaving bloody prints on the competitions whose main purpose is love and goodwill in sport!
