The sports director of our club, Bronislaw Wawrzynczuk gave his evaluation of “Prometey” opponents in the EuroCup group A.
“The teams’ rosters are not finished yet, but knowing the competition, budgets and ambitions of our opponents, group A definitely seems more difficult than the parallel one. However, before qualifiers, we did not calculate who we want to play against or hope to have an easy and smooth road to the playoffs. At the end, we want to compete for the final and in order to achieve it we have to be confident about our abilities, constantly maintain a high-quality collective work and fighting spirit regardless the opponent in front of us.
Two teams (“Wolves Vilnius” and “Besiktas”) are newcomers of the tournament but they equipped with very good resources and run by noteworthy executives, which might help them to overachieve at early stages. “Paris” and “London Lions” are ambitious projects and are likely to join Euroleague in the near future. We all very well how strong “Joventut Badalona” and “Hapoel Tel Aviv” were last season. It quite possible that “Venice” and “Cedevita-Olimpija” might have a bounce back year.
There definitely will not be easy games for us but we are excited and ready for future challenges”.
