On October 15 and 16, basketball club “Prometey” holds two games in a row in the Latvian-Estonian league Pafbet. On the eve of the matches, the press-service of the club found out from our captain, with what feelings the team is getting prepared to these confrontations after the victorious debut in the EuroCup.
-Denys, tomorrow you are playing against the current champion of the Latvian-Estonian league. In the previous match, you defeated the vice-champion of the Lithuanian league. What are your feelings after the successful start in the EuroCup?
-The feelings are great, as we expected a difficult game with “Lietkabelis” – the first game of the EuroCup in the “Prometey” history. Not everything worked out for us; however, we achieved the needed result. At the moment we are adjusting to VEF. This is the main team in Latvia and in Riga. For sure, they will have great support. And in general, this is an eminent team, they compete in EuroCups annually. It will be a tough game. We continue working and now focusштп mainly on our actions.
-Vitaliy Zotov, your younger colleague in the Ukrainian National team, plays for VEF. Does this fact add any more interest in tomorrow’s game, personally for you?
-I would not somehow emphasise it. It can’t help but make us happy when our compatriot plays in a foreign team. It doesn’t add anything personal for me. It will be ordinary game. And we are preparing for a serious opponent.
-Denys, you are playing two days in a row – on October 15 against VEF, on October 16 against “Tarvas”. Afterwards you have one day off and then you will travel to Italy for the EuroCup game. Isn’t it too tight a schedule?
-Well, the schedule is as it is. We just have to follow it and to use the given time effectively. As far as I know, there will be no rest on Monday, we will start getting ready for “Brescia” instead.
-In the interview for the “Prometey” press-service, during the tournament in Turkey you told that you did not feel 100% fit. How do you feel now, in the official games?
-My physical conditions are much better so far. I have had a minor injury, due to which I skipped the previous game of the Latvian-Estonian league. I hope everything will be fine. As I said, I feel much better and I am ready to help my team.
