The captain of Ukrainian National team and BC “Prometey” Denys Lukashov has commented the victory over the Netherlands in qualification for the WC-2023.
“It was the last game in this qualification; we tried to end well, with good feelings. It’s difficult to play being aware about the situation in our country but we try to do our best.
We knew that we did not get qualified because of the defeat from Italy, but anyway, we played every match for our country sake, for our dignity.
I would like to thank Latvia, which gave us another home to play matches – everything was organised really well. I want to thank everyone for their support in this window.
All our thoughts and wishes are about one thing. It’s not easy to play basketball knowing that people are dying every day. We have the only dream, everyone in the country – to defeat the terrorist country, expel them from our territory and stop the war. It's not easy to do sports of any kind, we need to stop the war, stop the fact that people die every day," Lukashov said.
