With the matches at the junction of October and November, the BKT EuroCup clubs will cover the half of the first tour tournament distance.One of the 5 round’s central matches in group A is a confrontation in Riga between our “Prometey” and a singlehanded leader of the group – French “Paris Basketball”.
The club from France is a project, the final target of which is entering the Euroleague. It is not surprising, considering that the club represents the capital of economically and politically developed European country. In the offseason, Finnish specialist Tuomas Iisalo, who had a great season with German “Bonn Telekom” and won the Champions league with his team, led “Paris”. Six players from German club at once moved to “Paris” in the summer offseason, including a guard TJ Shorts, the MVP of the season and the Final Four of the third ranked continental club tournament.
Tomorrow’s rival of “Prometey” has started the season excellently. In four BKT EuroCup matches, the team got 100% result. In the French championship, with a balance of 7-2, together with last year’s opponent of our team “Bourg, the team is chasing the tournament leader “Monaco”, which won all 9 games.
“Paris Basketball’s” success is supported with solid and meaningful games. The next Prometey’s opponent is an athletic team that preaches fast basketball using every opportunity for shooting. Besides that, “Paris Basketball” as well as “Prometey” successfully fights on the opponent’s board and has an aggressive defence. At the same time, the tournament leader in rebounds on the opponent’s glass is Ukrainian team – 16.8 per match! It worth noting that Tuomas IIsalo’s squad, in their defensive schemes, strive to create as uncomfortable conditions for rivals to shoot the rim as possible.
If to talk about French team in personalities, TJ Shorts looks just excellently at the BKT EuroCup start. With his 7.5 assists per match, he is the best tournament assistant at the moment, he is also the leader in steals (3.3 per match), has te second efficiency rating (24.0 points) and, with 19.0 points is the fourth shooter.
What to say, “Prometey” is awaiting a harsh challenge. However, our team has everything needed to cope with such challenge and improve its tournament situation.
