The opening match of the second round for "Prometey" and "Budivelnyk" in its content and quality of the game fully correlated with the status of confrontation between the leaders of the Women's Superleague. The final convincing score in favor of the national champion should not be misleading: the result of the rivalry was determined only in the final ten minutes, and if we talk about "Budivelnyk", to Slobozhansky came a completely different, much stronger team compared to the start of the championship.
The capital club demonstrated its ambitions in the debut of the match, holding it extremely aggressively. This was evidenced by 5 rebounds of Kyiv women on opponent’s backboard and 10 shots from the perimeter in the first 6 minutes of the confrontation. However, only two of them turned out to be accurate (both performed by Kristen Spolar), but this allowed "Budivelnyk" to take the lead with a difference of 5 points. Even so, Srdjan Radulovic's team failed to develop their starting precedence: Arella Guirantes was inaccurate twice from under the hoop, for which she was punished by a successful throw from the arc by Nikolina Babic and Joyner Holmes, who effectively completed a quick breakthrough. These actions of the players of the "red and whites" allowed "Prometey" to go ahead - 16:14, after which the team of Victoria Bolshakova won a quarter with a precedence of 6 points.
The same handicap of the "red and whites" was in the last seconds of the second quarter, but before the siren for a long break Anna Rulova hit from the perimeter, reducing the gap of her team to one possession of the ball - 41:44. Prometey made their first significant bid for victory at the start of the third quarter, when they organized an 11:1 sprint in four minutes, with Ariel Atkins scoring 6 points. However, then the wards of Victoria Bolshakova suffered several optional losses and their handicap from "+13" fell to "+6".
The 14th victory in the championship had to be formalised in the final ten minutes. Prometheus completely dominated on this stage. Olga Dubrovina added the necessary energy to her partners with two effective individual passes, and after Tetyana Yurkevich finished a quick attack of her team in the 34th minute, the scoreboard showed "+19" in favor of "Prometey". The "Builder" did not have enough resources to change the course of the match, including personnel (Elizabeth Mitina left the field in the third quarter after five fouls, and Kelly Kane four minutes before the final siren for the same reason).
The first round of confrontation between the leaders of the Women's Superleague is left for Prometey, and tomorrow at noon the teams will return to the Slobozhansky sports complex.
