The program of the games of the second round of the regular season in group "A" was opened by our "Prometey" and the German "Riesen Ludwigsburg". Ronen Ginzburg's team’s rival arrived in Kyiv as the leader of the group, albeit a formal one, but, most importantly, the German club already had a minimum reserve to leave the group. So in the tournament plan, the victory was extremely needed for "Prometey", especially since for the "red and whites" it was the second home match. In addition, the success was very important in psychological terms, because after the match with "Tenerife" it would prove that "Prometey" is not the odd one in the company of experienced European Cup fighters.
Unfortunately, today's match simply did not work for “Prometey”. The opponent managed to confirm his status as the leader of the group and won with a solid difference of points. But every team in the world goes through such defeats, and there is no doubt that Prometey will learn the necessary lessons despite this failure.
At the same time, for example, after the events in the starting quarter, it was difficult to predict such a result. Both teams managed to throw from the perimeter in this ten-minute period. The Red and Whites made three such attempts, and the opponent - one more. Interestingly, this "extra" successful three-point shot was fully reflected in the handicap of "Ludwigsburg" "+3" in the quarter. However, after the first break, the German team continued to hit the "Prometey"’s hoop quite successfully. During both the second and third quarters, the percentage of long-range shots of "Ludwigsburg" fluctuated around 60 (!). As a rule, the players of the guests brought someone to a free throw after meaningful combinations, but at the same time just incredible balls over the hands of our guys flew into the basket of "Prometey”. Partly thanks to their "long-range artillery", "Ludwigsburg" stopped a good jerk of our team in the second quarter (9:0), which helped "Prometey" to get ahead after a long break, and finished the first half of the game with an advantage of 8 points.
Unfortunately, the hopes that the fifteen-minute rest will benefit our team did not come true. Moreover, the third quarter was the most unsuccessful for our team in terms of defensive action: the opponent scored 27 points. When Ludwigsburg's handicap reached two dozen points long before the final whistle, the result of the confrontation was largely decided.
Prometey suffered its second home defeat in a row, and the match of the third round of the Champions League will take place in two weeks, on October 27. It will take place in Italy at the Dynamo Sassari club.
