The National basketball team of Ukraine completed the summer qualification window for the 2023 World Cup. Let us remind that the National team has four basketball players from "Prometey" in the roster - Denys Lukashov, Issuf Sanon, Illia Sydorov and Ivan Tkachenko. This is the largest representation among all clubs.
We suggest that we look back at the achievements of our boys in the selection for the 2023 World Cup.
Denys Lukashov
7 games, 18.9 minutes, 7.4 points (42.9% three-pointers), 4.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists
The most stable and reliable basketball player of the Ukrainian National team. Actually, a playmaker, captain and the oldest player of the team should be like that. As a reminder, Denys has more than fifty matches in the uniform of the National team in his asset.
Issuf Sanon
5 games, 16.2 minutes, 6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists
He debuted in the roster of the National team during the qualification for the 2019 World Cup. However, exactly this summer he became one of the key players, on whose performance depends really a lot. In addition, we have to note that his ability to make an assist improved exactly this summer and exactly in the National team. Look, even though it’s just by one tenth, but Issuf has more assists than Lukashov.
Illia Sydorov
8 games, 13.9 minutes, 6.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists
He made his debut in the Ukrainian national team in the qualification for the 2023 World Cup, appearing on the court in all eight qualification games. It is interesting that his first two matches for the National team in November last year were the most successful for Illia.
Ivan Tkachenko
6 games, 21.3 minutes, 7.3 points (42.9% three-pointers), 3.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 1.2 steals
Debuted in the roster of the national team on February 24, 2022. And right after the next games of the National team in July, where Tkachenko surprised everyone with his powerful game, it was clear that the recent debutant had already almost reserved a place for himself at EuroBasket. Moreover, in each subsequent game Ivan's efficiency rating increases compared to the previous one. It’s going to be very interesting to follow the progress of this player both in the National team and in “Prometey”.
The National team of Ukraine will play the next qualification matches for the World Cup on November 11 in the Netherlands; and on November 14 we will host Iceland.
And already on August 31, the team of Ainars Bagatskis sets off to the European Championship in Milan. There we will play with the National teams of Greece, Italy, Croatia, Great Britain and Estonia
