As it’s already known, BC "Prometey" has finishes the line-up complection for the 2022/2023 season. And what about our opponents in the 7DAYS EuroCup? Let's see who they sign.
Our first opponent “Litkabelis” have added size and experience to their previous line-up by including tough forward Zeljko Shakic. Croatian already played for the Lithuanian team in the 2019-2020 season, averaging 13.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in 24 Lithuanian League games. In addition, the Lithuanians announced a temporary one-year transfer of Paulus Murauskas from “Zalgiris” Kaunas. Murauskas (2.04m, 18 years old) averaged 18.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 block-shots in four Adidas Next Generation Tournament games for U18 Zalgiris Kaunas last season. He had 8.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 26 Lithuanian League matches during the temporary transfer at BC “Nevezhis”. Murauskas is one of Zalgiris' brightest young talents.
“Brescia” have announced that captain David Moss will remain with the team for the seventh season in a row. He became a captain in November 2016, just months after joining the team, and since then has become one of the club's biggest legends.
As always, “Ratiopharm Ulm” surprised fans and pundits by signing a couple of newcomers. The German team has found a new point guard Yago Mateus dos Santos. This will be his first experience outside of Brazil. Dos Santos moved from “De Regatas do Flamengo”, where he averaged 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 41 Brazilian league games last season and won the Intercontinental Cup title. “Ulm” also signed forward Sagaba Konate, who averaged 8.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 29 Italian league games for “Pallacanestro Trieste”.
Realizing that getting the ball into the basket is the first goal in basketball, “Hoventud” signed two great shooters. The versatile forward William Howard, who ranks fifth in the number of three-pointers in the EuroLeague (48.2%, 53 of 110), will move to Spain from “ASVEL”. The Spaniards also signed shooting guard Kyle Guy, who previously played for three teams - Miami in the NBA, as well as Cleveland and Sioux Falls of the G League. Guy averaged 23.1 points in 14 G League games for Cleveland and now looks forward to his first European experience.
“Cedevita Olimpia” re-signed defender Yogi Ferrell, brought back Karlo Matkovic after three seasons on temporary transfer and signed Marko Jeremic. In the 2020-2021 season, the Serbian already played in the EuroCup with “Mornar”, averaging 6.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 16 games. Slovenians later added more firepower to their back line by signing defender Josh Adams. He spent last season in the Australian League, where he averaged 17.5 points. And now he returns to the EuroCup, where he played in the 2020-21 season for “Virtus” and helped Italians reach the semi-finals. In the 2017-18 season, Adams played 16 matches in the EuroLeague for “Efes”.
So, as we can see, both basketball players with Euroleague experience and those who will spend their first season in the Old World will play against Prometey. So, it will be fascinating! Look for a new review of signings from our rivals next Sunday on our club resources.
