October 1 was the debut day for "Prometey" in the Latvian-Estonian Pafbet League (LEBL). According to the head coach of our team, Ronen Ginsburg, the squad is not yet at the peak of their shape. At the same time, the "red and whites" approached the opening match in the LEBL with the Latvian club "Ogre" with a good emotional state, which was created by victories in the control matches in Latvia and at the "Pinar Cup 2022" in Turkey.
Already the start of the match clearly demonstrated a significant difference in the class of the teams, both individual and team. At the beginning of the second minute, "Prometey" led 5:0 after Illia Sydorov's accurate shot from beyond the arc and Gian Clavell's excellent individual pass. Our team needed very little time to increase this handicap to 8 points (10:2). This happened thanks to DJ Stephens' accurate three-point shot and Illia Sydorov's shot from under the backboard. In the last episode, our players simply did not allow the opponents to get the ball out of their own rim. With a score of 12:6 in their favour, "Prometey" made an impressive 18:5 run, thereby increasing their advantage at the end of the first quarter to "+19".
The next 8 minutes were the only period of the match when "Ogre" managed to more or less compete with Ronen Ginsburg's team. Moreover, the first five minutes of the second quarter ended even with the minimal advantage of the Latvian club (7:6). However, "Prometey" left this quarter for itself, and already in the 23rd minute, after Clavell's three-point shot, our team's handicap reached three dozen points (63:33).
To the credit of the players of our team, such a significant advantage did not relax them. Literally with every minute, "Prometey" broke away from the opponent, and when the final siren buzzed, the scoreboard showed "+53" in favour of Ronen Ginzburg's squad. According to individual indicators, the advantage of the "red and white" over the opponent was no less impressive: 56 percent of field goals against 29, 71 percent of accurate two-point shots against 39, 50 rebounds against 31, 34 assists against 9!
