On the last day of November, matches of the 6th tour of the 7DAYS EuroCup regular season will be held. By this day, following current results, within ten participants of the tournament “Prometey” compete with, 4 groups had been formed. Our team, together with Italian "Reyer Venezia" and Turkish "Bursaspor" with 60 percent of victories are chasing French "Bourg" and Spanish "Joventut", which have 4 victories each in 5 matches. A group of teams, including the next rival of “Red and white” German club “Ratiopharm Ulm”, have one success less than the representative of Ukraine does.
For the first time, our team will hold their home match of the 7DAYS EuroCup not in the hospitable Riga but in Lithuanian Kaunas at the famous “Zalgiris Arena”, the home arena of the flagship of the Lithuanian club basketball “Zalgiris” from Kaunas. This arena was built on the eve of the EuroBasket-2013. Between September 14 and 18 of that year, play-off matches of the basketball European championship were held at “Zalgiris Arena. On January 6, 2016, general managers of the Euroleague clubs recognised “Zalgiris Arena” the best tournament arena. It can accommodate a maximum of 15450 spectators.
The history of the next rival of the best Ukrainian team is of 21 years. “Ratiopharm Ulm” from the city of Ulm (situated on the Danube River, with the population of 120 thousand inhabitants) continued a century and a half history of the sports club “SSV Ulm 1846”. The main successes were achieved by the young club in the previous decade. In the 2011/2012 and 2015/2016 seasons, it played in the final of the German championship, although both times lost to “Brose Bamberg 0:3. In the 2016/2017 season, “Ratiopharm Ulm” won the regular German championship, but unexpectedly lost 2:3 in the semi-final to “Oldenburg”, which was just in 5th position before the start of the play-off. Besides that, the representative of Ulm is the two-time finalist of the Cup of Germany and the finalist of the Super Cup-2013.
For “Ratiopharm”, this season is the jubilee one, the 10th in the EuroCup. Their highest achievemnt is reaching the quarterfinal stage two times, one of which is in the last year’s tournament. Then, in the quarter-final, “Ratiopharm Ulm” lost to the future trophy holder Italian “Virtus” (77:83).
German team is not consistent in the current 7DAYS Eurocap. For example, they lost to Lithuanian “Lietkabelis” (76:80), which does not belong to the tournament favourites, but, at the same time, it defeated two teams from the current top-five: “Reyer Venezia at home (81:80) and “Bursaspor” on the road (90:86). “Ratiopharm” also cannot boast with excellent results in the German championship – 11th place among 18 participants with 3 victories in 8 matches.
Herewith, “Ratiopharm Ulm” is very even in terms of the roster team. As well as in “Prometey”, most players, in one or another match, can take over leader functions (Brazilian point guard Yago Matheus, American forwards Devin Robinson and Josh Hawley, Germans Robin Christen, Karim Jallow, Austrian Thomas Klepeisz, Montenegrin Fedor Zugic and young Spansh talent Juan Nunez whu cut his teeth in “Real Madrid”). It is very important not to let this team throw. In the matches against “Brescia” and “Bursaspor” they approached the bourder of “40+” of accurate three-pointers.
