The first assistant head coach of BC “Prometey” Mantas Sernius told the club press service what the team should, first of all, be ready for in the game against “Paris” and whether we can hope for the Kennedy and Clavell help on January 10 in Paris.
? Mantas, "Paris" currently has the most wins among all EuroCup participants. What is the main thing to note in of our next opponent’s game style?
- Yes, "Paris" is the leader of our group. I would like to note that they are playing with great confidence in their own abilities and are actually pkay really well in the EuroCup. We must approach this game being strong, primarily from a psychological point of view. However, we must also be physically ready for our opponents’ very fast game. “Paris” is a running team. Every match, 11-12 players keep a high tempo and great intensity. First of all, we must be ready for this. Also, our task is to stop their leaders. The game starts from the back line, everything in this team is exactly under the guards’ control. Nadir Hifi is their scoring machine. We should focus a lot of attention on him. We also have to control the backboard. Now, "Prometey" is in second place in the EuroCup in terms of offensive rebounds (12.9), but "Paris" is in fifth place and pulls just one rebound less (11.7). They play very dense defence, press the ball all over the court. So, we have to approach the game being mentally ready to fight for 40 minutes.
? DJ Kennedy played only 4 minutes against “Kalev/Cramo” on January 6. Is he not yet ready to play in the EuroCup?
- If a player is in the roster, he must be ready to play. But the coach decides which player can bring the most benefit in this particular match. Therefore, against certain opponents, someone plays more and someone plays less.
? Will Gian Clavell be able to play on Wednesday?
- I cannot answer this question yet. The doctor will make a decision on Clavell closer to the game.
