Our newbie, Marec Klassen had the first training with his new team. “Prometey” press service has conversed with the new player about his impressions, expectations and goals.

-Marec, welcome to “Prometey”. Why did you choose exactly “Prometey”?

-Oh, lots of reasons, you know, very successful club, doing great in the EuroCup and awesomely doing here in the Latvian-Estonian league. So, I just wanted to be a part of a successful team. Also, I have heard great things about the coach and the team. That’s why.

-What do you remember about Ukraine? You played for “Kyiv-Basket”. What do you remember about Kyiv and Ukraine?

-Yeah, I played and I loved it there. My wife and I stayed there, it’s a great place, we actually, loved the city. We loved the city, we had a lot of good friends there. Slava from this team played with me there in Kyiv. I have some friends there, still. We had really good times, you know, we had a good team there with really good vibes. So I am excited to come back and play for Ukrainian team again.

-What part of you European career you consider the most successful?

-Most successful… Hm… We had a great team in Kyiv, we were going to the Final Four in the and then, because of COVID, we weren’t able to finish that season. This year in the Champions League I had a really good season as well, so… Ever since my son hass born it’s been successful.

-You have good individual record in the Champions League BCL, you are the second one in assists. Do you want to continue this way in the EuroCup? Do you set individual goals in the EuroCup?

-Most of my goals are focused around having the team win, making everybody around me better. If I am have high in assists, I think that’s probably going to help the team win, so yeah, I am just focused on making everyone better around me.

-Have you spoken to Ronen Ginzburg?

-Oh, no, we have just texted. I haven’t seen him yet. Though, I’ll see him later today.

-Did you discuss your role in the team with the coaches?

-Yeah-yeah, you know, we have just chatted about situation with the team. Again, like I said before, this is a good team. It’ going to be fun just to fit in.

-Did you watch any games of “Prometey” in the EuroCup?

-Yes, I have watched the last three.

-What did you like about “Prometey” games?

-It’s a good team. A lot of good pieces, a lot of talents, lots of depth. I watched when they lost a ball in France. They were really a couple of points away from being first in their group A. So I think there is a really good potential for the team and I think they are very ambitious to win.
