Tomorrow, on October 21, six matches at once will be held in the Latvian-Estonian basketball league Pafbet. A home Prometey’s match in Riga against Latvian club Liepaja is among them.

The upcoming rival of Prometey has been participating in all championships of their country since 1992. The highest accomplishments are silver medals in 1997 and bronze ones in 2000 and 2023. Last season, the series for the 3rd place was very hot in Latvian championship, and Liepaja surpassed Ogre in it with a score of 2:1.

But Liepaja lost its last match of the Latvian-Estonian league, where it entered the top-8 clubs only once (in the 2020/2021 season), exactly to Ogre (62:86). Before that failure, the team’s start in the league could tune its fans on an optimistic attitude: two wins in two first matches and a loss by one possession (90:93) to one of the best LEBL teams, Kalev/Cramo.

As of today, tomorrow’s Prometey rival is in a group of 5 teams on the edge of the play-off zone with 50% wins in 4 matches. Certainly, the club whose roster completely consists of Latvian players will, following the results of the regular season, try to enter the top-8 teams of the league, and, in prospective of tomorrow’s game, to provide a decent resistance to  Prometey, the current champion of the LEBL.
