The men's National basketball team of Ukraine set off to Iceland, where they will play the second match of the second round of qualification for the 2023 World Cup. This is reported by the website of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine.

Ainars Bagatskis' team in the city of Hapnarfjordur will oppose the local National team on August 27 at 23:00 Kyiv time. 13 players went to the match as part of the National team of Ukraine. In particular, three Prometheus players: Denys Lukashov, Illia Sidorov and Ivan Tkachenko.

It should be noted that Issuf Sanon, who suffered an ankle injury in the second half of the match against Italy, did not fly with the team and will not play against Iceland. The defender needs additional checks from a doctor, so it was decided that he would miss the next match and recover before the games of the final part of EuroBasket 2022.

"He could play, but if something happens, he may miss the whole EuroBasket. It is better for him to recover this week. There were two options - to take a risk or not to take a risk. I chose the second option. Considering our resources, and understanding his importance for the team, like any other player of ours, we decided to keep Issuf," said Ainars Bagatskis.
