The National basketball team of Ukraine lost to Croatia in the match of the last round of the EuroBasket 2022 group stage.

According to the website of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine, currently the team of Ainars Bagatskis has fallen to third place in the online table, losing to Croatia following the result of a personal meeting. However, in case of an evening victory of Italy over Great Britain and a "spinning" of the three teams, Ukraine will be second by point difference.

On the one hand, Italy now remains fourth in any circumstances, but on the other hand, it is unlikely that it will concede to an outsider at its home stands. Although such an option also needs to be calculated.

According to the regulations, the second place of our group C will play the third place of group D, the third place of group C will play with the second place of D. There are two matches left to play in that group - the Czech Republic and Israel have already started their match, and Serbia and Poland will play in the evening slot.

If Poland beats Serbs, they will top Group D, with Serbia in second place. The third will then belonge either Finland (if the Czechs win) or Israel (if they win the Czech Republic).

If Poland loses to Serbia, Finland will take second place. The Poles will be either third (if the Czechs win their match) or fourth (if Israel wins).

If Poland loses to Serbia and the Czech Republic loses to Israel, the three teams will have the same win/loss figures. Then everything will be determined by the difference in points in face-to-face matches:

An interesting fact about the further grid - the second team of our group, in case of victory over the third team of group D in the 1/8 finals, will play with the winner of the pair Slovenia - Belgium with Luka Doncic in the quarterfinals. The third place in our group C can play against the winner of the Spain-Lithuania pair in the quarter-finals. This is what can explain Croatia's reluctance to beat Ukraine by a large margin and overtake it in the standings.
