The confrontation of “Prometey” against Estonian club “Parnu Sadam” closed our team’s programme of official matches in January. In the first month of 2023, the best club of Ukraine won in all seven matches up to now. The success in the confrontation against “Parnu Sadam” would be the eight one and the 20th within Latvian-Estonian basketball league Pafbet. Achievement of another victory did not seem an absolutely easy task. “Prometey” was opposed by the current champion of Estonia, who demonstrated a high-quality basketball in the match of the first round at their home arena.
The roster of our opponent has significantly changed since that match in October and in the debut of the match, they resisted our team without any considerable success. Already in 5th minute, the advantage of the hosts reached “10+”. “Red and white” successfully attacked from both the guests’ “paint” (mostly Balvin) and from the perimeter (Lypovyy, Klassen). Our team played the entire quarter on one breath. At the end of this 10-minute segment, after the long absence, Illia Sydorov came out on the court. “Prometey” succeeded not only in attack but also in defense, having allowed the rival to score just 13 points.
The second quarter turned out to be more equal. Both teams played fast and effective basketball, but “Prometey” looked better than the opponent did. In terms of effectiveness, Gian Clavell stood out in our team. During 10 minutes, that Ronen Ginzburg gave him in the first quarter, he sparkled with 15 points.
Our team played the following 20 minutes quite even, without fail periods, having removed any questions about the winner of the match long before the final siren.
Next Wednesday, on February 1, “Prometey” will switch to 7DAYS EuroCup. In the central match of the 13th tour in Group A, our team will host Spanish “Joventut”.
