Tomorrow, on February 7, "Prometey" is finishing its performances in the BKT EuroCup regular season with a match against the Spanish club "Joventut Badalona".
By and large, the playoff series starts for our team already tomorrow. It can finish the group tournament in any position, from fourth to sixth. At the same time, only the 4th place gives an advantage of the home court in the first round of the playoffs. A victory over the titled Spanish club with a difference of 7 points can secure this position for the "titans". Our team can take 4th place in case of a win with "+4" or more, but only if another rival of Ronen Ginzburg's team - Turkish "Besiktas" – loses on the home arena to "Hapoel Tel Aviv" (the match will start an hour later after "Prometey" and "Joventut" come out on the floor). A possible defeat for “Prometey” tomorrow by any score leaves them in 6th position, after which, at the play-off stage, they will have to play a road match against the third team of Group B.
There is no doubt that tomorrow "Prometey" and "Hoventut" fans can expect quite a hot match. The confrontation of the first tour where the Spanish club was stronger by one possession (79:76) was exactly the same. The importance of that win in late November was huge for tomorrow's opponent of “Prometey”: “Joventut” then broke a three-game losing streak and, like “Prometey”, capped the first tour with a balance of 4-5.
Spanish team started the second tour with six wins in a row (!), then lost in Paris and had every chance to establish the home court advantage in the playoffs a week ago, but lost at home to "Hapoel" (Tel Aviv) (85:91). Before the visit to Riga, "Joventut" cheered itself up a little by beating "Valencia" (89:77) - also at the home court - within the Spanish Endesa League.
