Deserved victory of BC "Zaporizhzhya" over "Kyiv-Basket" (Zaporizhzhya's opponent not once led in 40 minutes of game) in the first match of the final game day of the Prometey Cup turned the cfinal match of the tournament "Prometheus" - "Dnipro" into a real final, because the victory of any team in this game automatically made them the winner of the main prize. The crucial battle of the main rivals fully met the expectations of all basketball fans, first of all because the champions of Ukraineof the last two years, according to the president of "Prometey" Volodymyr Dubynsky, showed "cool and classy basketball."
The best evidence of this is the emotions of the fans of both teams, which created an atmosphere that was more like the recent semifinal series of the playoffs with today's rivals than the match of the pre-season tournament, albeit decisive. Steep plot twists in today's thriller there were more than enough! The match started with a 6-0 rdash of Dnipro in the first two minutes, but then 5 consecutive points by D'Angelo Harrison gave the necessary impetus to other players of "Prometey", who could not effectively complete several attacks in the opening minutes. Vyacheslav Petrov and Oleksandr Lypovyy scored from afar, and it was exactly Oleksandr's accurate shot that allowed our team to take the lead for the first time. In total, 4 long throws from 6 Prometey’s players were successful in the first quarter, while in the first ten minutes Dnipro did not hit from the arc at all- this is the factor that determined the handicap of 9 points of Ronen Ginzburg's team based on the results of the quarter.
The opponents corrected their "long-range artillery" yet before the big break and first of all thanks to 5 hits they managed to win the second quarter confidently, although the team went to rest with the precedence of "Prometey" in one point - 37:36.
The first five minutes of the third quarter brought Prometey the biggest gap from the opponent in this exciting match - 12 points (Illia Sydorov scored twice from the perimeter), but the denouement was still far way in the quarter as well as in the tournament. In the 34th minute, the equal numbers were shown on the scoreboard- 63:63, and 200 seconds before the final siren "Prometey" led only three points - 71:68. However, exactly this segment of the game was extremely successful for the Ronen Ginzburg's team: they were able to increase their assets by 10 points and to miss only two points at the same time.
For the third year in a row, our team wins the main prize of the Prometey Cup. At a solemn ceremony dedicated to the end of the tournament, it was presented to Oleksandr Lypovyy, who served as team captain for two days in a row due to a minor injury to Denis Lukashov. At the same ceremony, the president of "Prometey" Vladimir Dubinsky presented all the players and coaches of the triumphant season 2020/2021 championship rings. The well-deserved award was also given to the defender of today's Dnipro team Rashad Vaughn, who, like Denys Lukashov, was prevented from playing today by injuries.
"Prometey" continues preparations for the season. The next match is a friendly match with BC Zaporizhzhia on September 8 at 6 pm, which will take place on the SC Slobozhanske court.
