“Prometey” has played the first of two back-to-back matches in Tallinn against the Latvian-Estonian league underdog, “Tallinn Kalev/SNABB”.
The hosting team started the match briskly leading after an accurate three-point shot. The “titans” established their first and, as it became clear slightly later, the final lead in the 4th minute. The visitors placed all necessary for victory accents back in the second half of the starting quarter, arranging an astonishing 16:0 run. After two starting inaccurate shots, Ronen Ginzburg’s team started succeeding in long-range shots (Denys Lukashov, Issuf Sanon) as well as in transition offence.
In the second quarter, “Prometey” complete dominating was going on. Our team, like in the debut of the confrontation, acted reliably in defence using in offence vast variety of options “Tallinn Kalev/SNABB” players could not cope with. The teams went for the long break with a huge handicap of “Prometey” by three dozen points.
After the long break, the hosts of the floor finally found their pace scoring in the third quarter more points than within the first 20 minutes and being inferior to the Ukrainian club by just one possession.
In the last ten-minute segment, as well as in the entire match in general, the coaching staff of “Prometey” evenly assigned playing time between all players. At that, 6 players at once reached “10+” mark of productiveness. In the final quarter, the “titans” regained an undeniable advantage and, as a result, set two team records – one-match productiveness (110 points) and the largest point differential (+58 points).
Already tomorrow, on January 6, at 19:00, “Prometey” is waiting for the much more challenging examination by the LEBL leader “Kalev/Cramo”.
