Since the beginning of their performances in the Superleague, Kharkiv Sokoly and Prometey have played three official matches in Kharkiv, but only in the first of them our team won a convincing victory. In the match of the third round of the 2019/2020 season, the "Sokoly" won on all the indicators in general, creating a real sensation at that time. In March of this year, "Prometey" won convincingly based only on the final score, and in the debut of that confrontation had many problems.
Considering all previous meetings of these teams in Kharkiv and the fact that the "Sokoly" opened the program of home games of the season and gathered a large audience, we could assume that the match for the "red and whites" will not be easy. However, from the very debut they began to dictate their terms to Valery Plekhanov's team, leading 14:5 at the end of the fifth minute, and Illia Sydorov, for whom it was a match in his hometown, scored exactly half of the points in this period.
From the very beginning of the match, Prometey had a huge advantage in the game under the backboards. Myro Bilan, our Croatian newcomer, made a significant contribution to it. In the first minutes after his appearance on the court, he collected three rebounds on the opponents’ backboard, and in addition, showed excellent mobility, often playing away from the backboard with an active drawings of pick-and-roll with the guards.
During a significant period of game, "Prometey" methodically increased his dominance. In the 14th minute, after a long shot by Oleksandr Lypovyy, the handicap of the guests reached the mark "20+" for the first time in the match - 39:18.
Sokoly reduced their lag before the long break thanks to 4 consecutive points by Oleksandr Zechevich and at the beginning of the third quarter after a successful pass by Michael Davis - 35:48. However, Denys Lukashov scored from afar, and when Miro Bilan scored nicely in the 24th minute, "Prometey" regained the advantage of two dozen points - 57:37.
The Falcons managed the end of the third quarter and with a great feelings they started the final one. In its debut, Troy Simons reduced his team's deficit to 10, but this was the last local achievement of the hosts. At the right moment, Illia Sydorov brought 5 points to Prometey and our team entered the last five minutes with a comfortable handicap of +14, and then calmly brought the match to victory.
