
Prometey (High league of Ukrainian championship) obtained the second victory at the tournament in memory of Oleksii Veremeichyk.

The match BC Staryi Lutsk University – BC Prometey (High league of Ukrainian championship) closed the programme of the second game day of the tournament in memory of Oleksii Veremeichyk. In the first match, Kyiv-Basket got its second win at the tournament, giving the “titans”, who defeated Rivne-RSHSM the day before, an excellent benchmark.
Oleksandr Pashchenko’s squad started at the tournament brilliantly. Within first three minutes, they astonished the opponent with a speedy and aggressive game on both glasses. Prometey’s spurt 10:0 (8 points by Denys Klevzunyk (!)) in first three minutes stunned the team from Lutsk, who had a considerable advantage at the own court in form of spectators’ huge support.
Staryi Lutsk-University started chasing “titans” with an effective rebound on our glass by American Stacey Thomas and accurate three-pointer by their captain Volodymyr Kotsko. According to the first ten-minute segment results, Superleague representative have already had acceptable “-4”, and in 18th minute, the hosts of the tournament took the lead for the first time in this match (31:29). However, Prometey gave its mighty respond, returning to "+4" of its advantage based on the results of the second ten-minute part.
In the third quarter, their handicap reached the mark of “10+” for the first time. However, this “explosive” Prometey’s segment did not confuse its opponent. In the last minute of the quarter, the teams were divided by just one possession (53:50 in favour of Prometey).
And yet, “red-and-white” were stronger than their opponents. In the final ten-minute segment, they confidently kept the game under control and attained absolutely deserved win – 79:70.
Tomorrow, on September 24, in the confrontation of Prometey and Kyiv-Basket, the winner of the main prize of Oleksii Veremeichyk tournament will be determined.
