Less than in 45 hours after the hard win in Italian Venice, “Prometey” played another official match, this time within Latvian-Estonian league Pafbet. Considering the amount of physical and emotional power that was given on Wednesday in Italy, it was hard to expect from “red and white” a bright show in the confrontation with Estonian club “Viimsi/Sportland”. The target was a victorious result itself without considerable problems during the match.
“Prometey” successfully coped with this task without questioning its result almost all along the entire match. At the same time, the best club of Ukraine, in the roster of which Caleb Agada, Ondrej Balvin and Denys Lukashov got chance to rest, entered the game with some difficulties, which actually was not a surprise. There was enough downsides in the actions of our team in the debut of the match, first of all in attack. The first 5-minute segment was marked by low-scoring basketball and an equal score 9:9. Even in this game segment, a much higher level of the hosts was clearly visible though. They had a two-fold advantage in the fight under the backboards (16 rebounds against 8 within first 10 minutes). As a result, “Prometey” bigmen James Dickey and Viacheslav Petrov was not noticing the opponents in their “paint”. Issuf Sanon also started the match perfectly taking opponents by surprise each time with his individual drives and assists.
Yet before the first break, “Prometey” broke away from the opponent, when Oleksandr Lypovyy and Ivan Tkachenko hit open throws from the perimeter. Already in 15th minute, when Dustin Hogue hit the rim of “Viimsi”, a handicap of Ronen Ginzburg’s team reached “20+” (35:16). But then, there was an unfortunate segment our team’s game. The opponent managed quick attacks and long-range shots, which allowed them to reduce their lag to 9 points. However, yet before the long break, “Prometey” took an initiative back and went to rest with a quite comfortable advantage of 15 points – 52:37.
The second half of the game, “red and white” played consistently, not giving the opponent a single chance to turn its course to the needed for them channel. Long before the final siren, it was clear, that “Prometey” would attain the 13th victory in the LEBL. Our team easily reached the milestone of 100 scored points, acting reliably in defense at the same time. The final siren recoded excellent individual indicators of several players of the league leader at once. Dustin Hogue and Issuf Sanon reached the mark “20+” of productiveness. James Dickey was just one rebound away from double-double (18 points). Issuf Sanon and Viacheslav Petrov gave their partners 7 assists each.
In the LEBL tournament, “Prometey” has a short break now. Ronen Ginzburg’s team will hold their next game on the road on December 28. Their rival is Estonian club “Avis Utilitas Rapla”.
