Thr second tour of the BKT EuroCup in group A opened with our “Prometey” guest game in German Hamburg against the local club. Considering the tough fight in our group for advancing to the playoffs, the win of our team had to become a compulsory programme for it. Ronen Ginzburg’s squad coped with this task excellently – 97:83 in their favour.
Based on the tradition of most previous matches in the season, “Prometey” held the debut of the match more confidently than the rival did. Following the results of the first six minutes, the “titans” led in score 14:7 and then, back in the first quarter, drove their handicap to “10+”. Such successful actions of our team’s players were the direct consequence of successful use of many offensive options. Young “Hamburg” player Krause put the end of the first ten-minute segment with three-point shot – 19:26.
The hosts of the court were inferior to our team in fighting on the backboards; therefore, offensives from afar were almost the main attempt not to let “Prometey” go too far. Partly, “Hamburg” succeeded in it (33% of successful attempts in the first half of the game), however, Ronen Ginzburg’s team confidently controlled the flow of the game surpassing the opponent including by this component. The accuracy of two-pointers by the guest team was over 65%.
“+17” for “Prometey” following the results of the first half of the game was a good base for the overall victory. The long break has not changed the disposition. During the third quarter, “Prometey” slightly increased its handicap but in the mid of the final quarter, “Hamburg” added some intrigue in the game with their 9:0 run. At that moment, Rob Gray timely aced a three-pointer, after which the “titans” drove the game to the winning end.
After 10 matches, our team reached 50% win indicator. Its next clash, “Prometey” will play in Riga on December 13 against Turkish “Besiktas”.
