Following the results of the EuroCup group round draw, “Prometey” got into the tournament group A. 9 clubs became its opponents. With four of them (“Joventut”, “Reyer Venice”, “Cedevita Olimpija” and “Hamburg Towers”), Ukrainians played last season. With another teams (“Hapoel Tel Aviv”, “Paris”, “London Lions”, “Besiktas” and “Wolves Vilnius”), “red and white” will start writing their relations history some time later.
Spanish “Joventut”, as well as last season, will be the most titled EuroCup team. Most likely, this club’s ambitions will be to fight for the ticket to the Euroleague. Last season, “Joventut” stopped at the semi-final EuroCup stage giving in to compatriots from “Gran Canaria” by just one possession (86:89). The club from Badalona also made it to the Top-4 teams of the Spanish championship. At the moment, “Joventut” has just started the process of forming their roster. It is already known, that two team’s last season top-players will not play in Badalona: Joel Parra’s contract was bought by “Barcelona” and star-guard Kyle Guy is going to defend the colours of another Euroleague participant, Italian “Virtus” from Bologna.
Another “Prometey” rival, Italian “Reyer Venice”, as sports director of our club Bronislaw Wawrzynczuk noted, already next season, will try to bounce back to its best achievements of the last decade. The team kept its head coach Neven Spahija and several players of the main squad (Tessitori, Spissu, Brooks, Parks, De Nicolao). As for acquisitions, the noted one is the signing of Brazilian center of “Ratiopharm Ulm” Bruno Caboclo, who had a bright end of the 2022/2023 season.
The champion of Slovenia and semi-finalist of the Adriatic League “Cedevita Olimpija” is also doing an active transfer activity. In the current roster of the club from Slovenian capital city, our fans can see familiar names from last season (Omic, Muric (injured), Alibegovic). Gregor Glas, Zoran Dragic, Sasa Ciani are in the extended list of Slovenian National team, which is scheduled to play at the World Cup at the end of August.
“Hamburg Towers” from Germany, the club that our club surpassed in the 1/8 finals of the last year’s tournament, made three signings in the summer off-season. This is guard Mark Hughes, swing man Will Christmas, one of the best last year’s players in the second German division and his colleague in role V.J. King. Apart from that, the head coach of “Hamburg Towers” Benka Barloschky has signed a new contract for two years with the club.
