“Prometey” started the final four-match series of the regular season in the Latvian-Estonian league Pafbet with a road match against Estonian club "Viimsi/Sportland". The first and the last opponent (BC “Ventspils”) are at the moment in the play-off zone in this game series. Besides that, “Viimsi” could be called a home team this season: at their home arena, Valdo Lips’ team attained 10 wins in 12 matches. That is why, this confrontation hardly was easy for the best club of Ukraine even though its status as undeniable favourite of the game could not be questioned. In addition, it must be considered that “red and white” played this match after the two-week break.
However, these moments did not affect the quality of “Prometey” game although the opponents came into game slowly. During the first five minutes, they all together scored only 13 points and our team wrote in their assets 8 of them. But in the 7th minute, after the long-range accurate shot by DJ Stephens, its advantage reached a two-digit mark 17:7. The guests' handicap appeared approximately the same, and according to the results of the first quarter - 25:16. At that moment, “Prometey's” percentage of accurate two-point shots almost reached 80 (!), and "red and white" three-fold surpassed the opponent in terms of rebounds - 12 against 4.
Quite wonderful moment was a result of such advantage of Ukrainian club in fighting under the backboards: “Prometey” scored 43 points and 36 of them were scored from the opponent’s “paint”. Our rival stayed in game for a long time due to successful attacks from the perimeter. In the middle of the third quarter, “Viimsi” had 8 hits out of 17, at the same time, “Prometey” had only 1 out of 13. However, “red and white” kept the game under control and, by and large, completed it in the third quarter, when their handicap reached the mark of “20+”.
The next game will be also an away one for our club. On March 4, in Latvian city of Liepaja, they will play against a local club of the same name.
