"Prometey" opened the program of control matches in this preparatory period with a match against the rival from Latvian-Estonian League, "Latvian University". In this confrontation, only five players who make up the team's roster were available for the coaches of our team. All of them (Oleksandr Lypovyy, Caleb Agada, DJ Kennedy, DJ Stephens, Viacheslav Petrov) appeared on the court in the starting five. It is clear that these players could play the entire match only in theory, therefore the coaching staff of "Prometey" involved Serhii Pavlov and Oleksandr Sizov, well-known to Ukrainian fans, as well as a trio of local players - Mantvidas Staniulis, Ojars Silins and Davis Geks.

These five basketball players replaced the starting five after the first five minutes of the match, when "Prometey" reached a significant handicap - 15:6. Literally from the first seconds of the match, the "red and whites" did not let anyone doubt their higher class in relation to the young opponent. The best team of Ukraine of the last two seasons demonstrated solid and very meaningful basketball as for the start of the season. The goals, scored in the hoop of "University of Latvia" in the first five minutes, were the result of various attacks by our team: two DJs - Kennedy and Stephens succeeded in alley-oops, they broke away after their own steals, and Oleksandr Lypovyy scored from the perimeter.

Today's five assistants also made their contribution to the initial success of the team. It was especially significant in the performance of the experienced Pavlov and Sizov. The boys showed excellent understanding and scored 12 points together before the first break, and Serhiy Pavlov became the most productive player of the quarter - 7 points.

In the next ten-minute segments, "Prometey" also had a clear division into two fives, which had approximately the same playing time - about five minutes in each quarter. The players of "Latvian University" had a more difficulties with the "contract" basketball players of "Prometey", however, the boys of the second five, as at the start of the match, also outplayed their opponents.
The youth of "Latvian University" managed to put up more or less decent resistance only in the third quarter, but it was also lost to the opponent. During the match, the handicap of "Prometey" reached four dozen points, and when the final siren bazzed, it was not much smaller.

Our team obtained a very convincing victory (108:72), and the next sparring will be held in a week. The opponent is the Lithuanian club "Juventus".
