The game calendar ordered so that it was very difficult to determine the definite favourite in each of the five matches. In the confrontation “Brescia” – “Prometey”, not only the fact that Italian club represents one of the top Italian championships but also the factor of the own place, helped our rivals. At the same time, if to recall the last EuroCup season of “Prometey”, our team played the away matches quite successfully, obtained at the different stages of Champions League 4 road victories. This fact could not help but added some portion of optimism on the eve of the duel in Italian Brescia.
Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be too harsh for the representative of Ukraine, although, in the first part of the game, both teams had approximately equal chances to win. Comparing to the match against "Lietkabelis", there was one change in the starting five of our team: instead of Gian Clavell, Caleb Agada came out on the court. At the beginning of the match, the teams mostly watched each other. In the first five-minute segment, they scored 18 points all together, and "Prometey" was in lead (10:8). In the second half of the quarter, "Brescia" managed a jerk of 10-0, which was mostly organized thanks to the shots from the arc by the main shooters of the team, Della Valle and Petrucelli. The "red and whites" did not let their opponents to escape far ahead thanks to their accurate three-pointers (Clavell, Sydorov). At the end of the ten-minute segment, there was only one possession between the opponents – 21:18 in favour of "Brescia".
In the second 10-minute segment “Prometey” reduced the gap to minimum (24:25), however, three losses in a row in the middle of the quarter allowed the hosts of the court to set handicap at the mark of “+10” (36:26). Before the long break, the advantage of “Brescia” was slightly smaller, but three points by DJ Stephens two second before the siren allowed to shorten the deficit of scoring points for Ronen Ginzburg’s team to 6.
After the long break, the team of Alessandro Magro realised a sequence of productive attacks from our 3-second zone. The third quarter turned out to be a real fiasco for our team: for the last break, they went conceding the opponents for 22 points.
Exactly the third quarter, by and large, determined the result of this confrontation in favour of “Brescia”. However, the final 10-minute segment also was left for the hosts of the court, who won with the difference of 34 points – 104:70.
Indeed, a defeat with such a score absolutely unpleasant, but there is no time to dust ashes on the head. Already on Saturday, October 22, “Prometey” is playing within the LEBL the road match against Estonian club “Parnu Sadam”.
