Another match of the Latvian-Estonian league, “Prometey” played on the court of the Olympic centre Rimi in Riga against BC “Ogre”. At the start of the championship, the “titans” had game problems only with “VEF Riga”. “Ogre” is in absolutely different status than the multiannual best Latvian club, however, it was able to create even more problems for Ronen Ginzburg’s team that the team from Riga did.
From the first seconds of the game, our rivals accepted the pace offered by the “titans” and, in the debut of the confrontation, managed to play using their best qualities so good that won the starting quarter in all respects – 29:18. At that, the opponent’s player Karlis Apsitis scored in the starting quarter 11 points at once. “Ogre” twice surpassed our team in assists (10 against 5) and was much better than the hosts in accuracy of the field throws (72% against 48).
Such a start from the opponent’s side could not help but affected the hosts of the court. In the quarter №2, they rushed in pursuit and in its second half, managed a mighty spurt of 12:2. In this game segment, Ronald March, who came out in starting five, scored 6 points at once (12 in total in the first half of the game). However, it was “Ogre”, who went for a long break in the status of the leader – 44:42.
It seemed, Ronen Ginzburg’s squad would to place all winning accents in the second half of the game having fare higher class than the opponent has. However, it was the day of "Ogre" today. The team was not confused even with the fact that they did not score at all in the first half of the final quarter. At the end of the match, the opponents got concentrated and created the main, as of today, sensation of the tournament making the “titans” suffer their first loss in the league this season.
