Already on the third day after the exhausting duel against Spanish “Joventut”, which took both a lot of physical strength and emotional energy, “Prometey” awaited a very important and fundamental confrontation within Latvian-Estonian league against “Kalev/Cramo”. It was fundamental not only because the teams sat in two first lines of the tournament standings. The best club of Ukraine suffered the only defeat in the league and exactly from the many-time champion of Estonia. There was no doubt that “red and white” would be full of determinance to take revenge.
The debut of the match turned out to be nervous. Both teams made a lot of turnovers and this effected their productiveness. During 5 minutes opponents scores 15 points in total with a minimum advantage of “Prometey”. However, “red and white” looked better all along the quarter, and finished ii in their favour – 18:12.
In the middle of the second 10-minute segment, after DJ Kennedy successfully ended an excellent combination, the advantage of "Prometey” reached a double-digit for the first time – 32:22. Our team skilfully mixed a quick and positional attack and did not fail in defense. The complex of these factors helped constantly increase their handicap. In particular, it worth to note that “Prometey” allowed its opponent to score only 30points during 20 minutes.
The absolute dominance of the tournament leader was clearly visible right after the long break. In the debut of the third quarter, “Prometey” was on lead by 21 points (54:32). After that, the guests started groping the ways to the “Prometey’s” hoop, slightly reducing their lag.
The final 10-minute segment turned out to be the best one for “Kalev/Cramo in this match. The guests, including the efforts of Ukrainian player Oleksandr Kovliar, reduced their deficit to “-4”. However, “Prometey” managed to lead the game to the victory.
Their next match, our team will hold within 7DAYS EuroCup. On February 8, they will play in Riga against Slovenian club “Cedevita Olimpija”.
