BC "Prometey" in connection with new statements of embassies of other countries on the urgent evacuation of their citizens from Ukraine decided to send men's and women's teams of the club to the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. The president of SC Prometey Volodymyr Dubynskyi stated this:
"An hour ago, the meeting of BC Prometey, related to the situation around the possible armed aggravation by Russia and the departure of legionnaires from the club, ended.
This morning, my phone was literally hot, due to new statements from the US Embassy and other embassies about the immediate evacuation of their citizens from Ukraine within the next 48 hours. All the agents called the players and sent lightning letters to the club.
We understand the concerns and feelings of all players and not just legionnaires, as well as every employee, close member of my family or friend.
Before writing about the decisions they made, I want to express my personal position on this situation. First of all, I told this to the players and everyone, I want to tell everyone again, we should not panic at this time and we need to be as close as possible. Secondly, I, together with all members of my family, including children and parents, do not go anywhere and do not run away, because I am sure that everything will be fine and everything will be Ukraine. We all need to work even harder and believe in the best things, so, everything will be fine.
Now about the decisions, made at the evening meeting of BC Prometey. We listened to the head coach, captain and legionnaires, then, listened to the general director and the President of the club, me))).
It was decided that due to a week-long break in the Superleague for the national team games and the really difficult situation in Ukraine at the moment, the full team will play tomorrow with BC Cherkaski Mavpy and fly to the Czech Republic on Monday for a two-week training camp. There we are preparing for the upcoming games in the Champions League. This is our number one priority now. All our legionnaires and Ukrainian players have expressed full support for the club and the desire to continue their careers in BC Prometey. Nobody is planning to terminate their contracts with the club and everyone is charged with winning the upcoming games of the Champions League and getting into the quarterfinals of the most prestigious tournament in Europe. I am happy that the club has once again confirmed its cohesion and proved that we are one big friendly family.
Of course, everyone is worried, but absolutely everyone supported the club, management and coaching staff and we are looking forward with optimism.
Only Prometey! Only Victory!!!
P.S. I am sure that everything will end diplomatically, by February 23, we will breathe a sigh of relief, and everything will be as before. I hope and I am even sure that on March 3, in Kiev, we will hold our next match in the Champions League.
P.S. Women's BC Prometey, in preparation for the final games in the FIBA European Cup, also plans to fly to Bulgaria for a two-week training camp on Monday and our American legionnaires Holmes and Atkins will join the club in Bulgaria and the whole team will prepare for significant matches.
