Tomorrow, on March 29, at “Arena Riga” the final confrontation of “Prometey” in the 7DAYS EuroCup 2022/2023 regular season will take place. The rival of Ukrainian club is Italian “Reyer Venice”. This confrontation is one of the central ones in the 18th tour. The 11th win of “Prometey” in a row will mean for them the outstanding achievement for all Ukrainian basketball: a victory in the regular season of the second-ranked tournament of European club basketball.
“Venice” also needs victory. With a high probability, it gives “Prometey” opponent the advantage of home arena in the first play-off round.

In the first round confrontation of the teams in Venice, “Prometey” won with a score of 75:71. One and a half month after that December confrontation, there were some changes in a coaching staff of “Venice”. Walter De Raffaele, who had been working in the club system for 12 years, was replaced by 60-year-old Croatian specialist Neven Spahija. Under Spahija’s guidance, the team did not reach considerable progress in results. If before the first match against “Prometey” they were in 2-4 positions in Group A, now they sit in spot 5. However, high potential of Italian club is obvious.

Both “Prometey” and “Reyer Venice” have high-class legionnaires and remarkable national part of the roster. This season, players of Ukrainian and Italian national teams confronted each other not only in the match of the first round, but also in selection matches for the World Cup-2023 and at the EuroBasket 2022.
