Its another match within the Latvian-Estonian basketball league, “Prometey” plays on the road against “Valmiera GLASS VIA” club. This team represents the Latvian city of Valmiera, which is located on 100 kilometres distance from the capital of the country Riga, not very far from the border with Estonia.

Basketball club “Valmiera” was founded in 1994. The team’s highest achievement is the winning the Latvian championship in the 2015/2016 season. In addition, “Valmiera” was the bronze medallist of the tournament another three times (2002/2003, 2004/2005, 2012/2013 seasons). From 2007 to 2009, the team was led by Ainars Bagatskis, who has no need to be introduced to the basketball fans of our country. With Bagatskis, “Valmiera” sat in 5th place of domestic championship twice.

Recently, “Prometey” rival has not been able to approach somewhat closer to the 2015/2016 season’s achievement. In the LEBL, the team has not been getting higher than 10th position, constantly staying out of the playoff zone. This season, “Valmiera” also had a bad start in the league having 4-12 balance after 16 games.

Tomortow’s opponent of “Prometey” has three legionnaires in its roster including the Ukrainian center Ivan Tokovenko, who started his career in Cherkasy. However, Ivan sees not much of the playing time giving in the contest in his position to Slovak Maros Zeliznak. The third legionnaire in the roster is 19-year-old Bosnian Harun Zrno.

Undeniably, a role of the leader of tomorrow’s confrontation belongs to “Prometey”. However, for sure, the Ukrainian club has to prove its status on the floor.
