Tomorrow, on October 25, in Slovenian capital Ljubljana, Prometey is playing it road match of the BKT EuroCup 4th round against the local Cedevita Olimpija.
By a curious coincidence, a year ago, at about the same point of the tournament distance (it was the match of the 5th round then) and also in Ljubljana, the opponents held their first confrontation in history. As well as today, both teams desperately needed success. Prometey started with 2-2 and Slovenian club with 4 losses. That tense confrontation resulted in the first Prometey’s road win in history of its EuroCup performances – 94:89.
At present, the “titans” have 1-2 after three rounds and Cedevita Olimpija once again started with defeats. At the same time, as well as a year ago, Slovenian club cannot be named a weak one. If the nearest opponent of Prometey fell in the opening match to Israeli Hapoel Tel Aviv in all regards, than later they gave in to Spanish Joventut only in overtime. Last week, also in a competitive struggle, they lost to Besiktas in Istanbul.
The head coach of Prometey Ronen Ginzburg also pays homage to the opponent: “Cedevita Olimpija is a team with high expectations, whose players are in the roster of the National team of Slovenia, many experienced players. Good team”.
According to Prometey’s coach, the key to success is in consistent play of his squad all through the entire game: “We have to play the same as we played in the first quarter against London and in the first quarter against Besiktas. If we play like this during the whole match, we will win it. We have to play with the same attitude as at the beginning of these matches”.
Undoubtedly, Prometey is awating a challenging confrontation, but all team’s fans have reasonable hopes that their favourites will be back to the winning path.
