Comment by the head coach of BC “Prometey” Ronen Ginzburg on the eve pf the EuroCup game against “Venice”, which is scheduled for November 22 at 19:00 at Arena Riga.

- Coach, just the other day, a new player Rob Gray joined our team. Why have you decided to invite exactly him?

- Because, we had certain problems at the position number two. Ronald March is more of number three. We needed a player, who would bring points, with a good shot and another playmaker, the player who can also play at the point guard position. Gray has not had game practice for 4-5 months, just arrived, so he is not in the perfect shape yet but will gain it soon.

- But still, what are your impressions of the first practises, first Rob’s game for “Prometey”?

- He is the player with a great mentality; he really strives to be useful to the team and he is a good person. I believe, his appearance will also benefit to the atmosphere in the locker room.

- How can you evaluate the current overall atmosphere, relations between the guys?

- In my opinion, “chemistry” on the floor was not good. Injuries played their role as the guys did not play all together because each time someone was absent due to an injury. It affected the locker room atmosphere as well. However, it got better, for sure.

- We will play our next EuroCup match against “Venice”, crucial game for us. What are your expectations from this game? What could you say about the rival?

- This is a good team. A representative of the Italian championship – it says a lot. Well, they lost to “Milano”, the Euroleague team on Sunday. But they are higher than “Milano” in the tournament standings (four teams, which has record 6-2 and share 2-5 places; “Milano has 5 wins and 3 defeats - auth.). Last season we defeated “Venice “ twice. This club has a long history and traditions (it was founded in 1872 as a gymnastic club, and in 1925 a basketball section was opened – auth.) Without any doubts, it will be a tough game for us since “Venice” has high-quality basketball players, guards in particular. We have to play at our maximum to achieve success.

- How is stands’ support important to have a chance of celebrating victory in the evening of November 22?

- It is always important for both me and guys. I can say, we have an incredible support at Arena Riga. It is very important and pleasant that our games are visited by Ukrainians and that we are seen and not forgotten in Ukraine. Our fans support us. It is very important to understand that not always, in both basketball and life, everything goes excellently. We have had just success for the previous three years. But when things are going not so well, we have to get together even tighter – the team, the management, the fans and support each other.
