The Czech National basketball team, led by “Prometey” head coach Ronen Ginzburg, played in the 1/8 finals with Greeks, who are contenders for the EuroBasket medal in the FIBA Power Rankings. Czechs were in the game throughout the entire match, they did not concede more than 10 points, they were ahead for 16 minutes and the score was equal 12 times during the match. Despite the defeat (88:94), coach Neno was satisfied with the performance of his wards:

-"We played against a good team with a good coach. We executed the game plan 80-90%. If you look at the stats, you will see that we forced the opponent to throw more 3-pointers than 2-pointers and had 31% of accurate long range throws. However, at the end of the game, small mistakes, perhaps the fatigue of some of our players, led the opponent to the victory. I am proud of my players. They and the whole staff, the team personel did a great job. Throughout EuroBasket, we had big problems , first of all, the injury of Tomasz Satoranski. I am sure that if Tomasz had been healthy, we would have finished higher in the group and today we would not be opposing Greece, but a different rival. But that's life."
