Ronen Ginzburg: "The team is ready for the first game"

Ронен Гінзбург: "Команда готова до першої гри"

On October 1, BC "Prometey" will debut in a new for them tournament - the Latvian-Estonian Pafbet Basketball League. On the eve of the first official match, the press service of the club spoke with the head coach of our team, Ronen Ginzburg.

- Coach, on Saturday "Prometey" will make its debut in the Latvian-Estonian basketball league. A week ago we played the last control game. Is the team ready for the season?

- The team is ready for the first game, and probably not ready for the whole season yet. We need another 2-3 weeks. But that's okay, we had to start one day, so I cannot see anything wrong with starting now.

-What can you say about our first opponent "Ogre". Is this a good opponent for the start of the championship?

- We don't know this league well enough. I just started watching them yesterday. Not a bad team. I need to see more to know them better. However, I believe that at this time we should focus primarily on ourselves. First of all, we have to be ready, and then look at the opponent.

- "Prometey" played friendly matches, in particular, with Latvian teams - "Latvian University" and "Ventspils". We won both matches with a big difference in the score (about 40 points). Is our team so much stronger than the rivals in LEBL?

- If we are in good shape, we should win such matches. Regarding the league. I don't know all the opponents well enough yet. I know that VEF and "Kalev" are really good teams. Let’s see what may happen.

- What do you expect from the LEBL season in general?

- So far, it is difficult to say anything. However, we will certainly strive to win every single game. I do not believe that we will win all the matches, but we will try to do it in each one. And it is important to approach to the end of the regular season well prepared for the playoffs.

-Are all the players ready to play on Saturday? Are there any injured ones?

- Everyone is ready. There are two more training sessions before the game, hopefully nothing will change. However, at the moment, everyone is ready to step out on the court. No major injuries or anything like that.

- Ronen, "Prometey" will play 9 matches in October. Isn't that too much for 30 days?

- Yes, too much. But we have a deep roster. We have 12 players ready to play. So, we will split playing time between all basketball players in some matches. However, yes, definitely 9 games in 30 days is tough.
