At the post-match press conference, the head coach of BC “Prometey” Ronen Ginzburg commented on the defeat of his team in the match against “Wolves” (71:85) in the sixth EuroCup round.
- In the first half, we demonstrated good basketball. We did not manage to stop Sulaimon. And in the second half, the thing happened that too often happens to us this season. We played poorly and they played well in defense. “Wolves” deserved this victory.
- Why did you fail to stop Rasheed Sulaimon, what did not work?
- First of all, he scored several difficult shots. You cannot stop everything. We were preparing for him; we know what we do on pick-n-roll, sometimes we performed it well. When Agada defended against him, everything was okay. But then, after players substitution, he was just “killing” them. He is an important player for this team.
- What to do you think about “Wolves” in general?
- Very good team. Really good team. As well as most teams, it claims and is able to get into Top-6. We will see.
- In Lithuania, there are a lot of those who support Ukraine. In particular, there were some actions at the match today. Do you feel here more “at home” with such support?
- I cannot say that really like at home, but each time when Ukrainians come to see us, the players always know about it in advance, take photos with them. That is great they think not only about the war but also about basketball.
- There is war not only in Ukraine but also in Israel. How is it difficult for you now as for the coach?
- The beginning was difficult. But now I have to do my job. That is insane what is happening there, what HAMAS is doing there. I think everything will be okay. We understand if we don’t stop them, they will appear in other countries. It is not an easy situation but we are strong people and move ahead.
- Is there anything better in Arnoldas Kulboka’s health condition? Is there a chance for him to play this season?
- Kulboka was an important part of our team’s construction for this season. Unfortunately, he is injured. And this fact took away a great part of the preparation process. I spoke to him today, he feels better. I hope, he will come back at the end of the season, but this is a big loss for us and for him.
