On March 9 and 10, the Cup of Ukraine Final Four will be held in Kyiv in Sports Palace "Veneto". "Dnipro", "Staryi Lutsk", our "Prometey", as well as the hosts of the court "Kyiv-Basket" will fight for the trophy.
The Final Four will open with the first semi-final match, where "Prometey" and "Kyiv-Basket" will clash with each other.
Oleksandr Pashchenko's squad approaches this confrontation in a status of the undeniable leader of the High League championship - 27 wins in 27 matches! On the way to the Cup semi-finals, our team successively defeated "Niko-Basket" (84:76) and "Polytechnica-Halychyna" (88:44) in the home bubble in Slobozhanske.
"Kyiv-Basket" is currently sitting in 4th place in the Superleague Favbet with a 14-10 balance. In the Cup of Ukraine, at the stage of the 1/8 finals, the team from the capital of our country played against another team from Kyiv but from the High league - "Self Made Basket" and quite unexpectedly won only in overtime - 88:85. But in the quarterfinals, "Kyiv-Basket" beat "Rivne" in all regards - 107:80.
Last September, "Prometey" and "Kyiv-Basket" played against each other at the pre-season tournament in memory of Oleksiy Veremeychyk in Lutsk. The "titans" confidently beat the representative of the Superleague with a score of 79:58 and became the winners of the tournament. However, it is not a good idea to make any conclusions based on this result.
Then, the "Titans" faced a completely different team than it is now. During the season, "Kyiv-Basket" experienced head coach replacement: the ambitious Dmytro Zabirchenko, who started the season in "Budivelnyk", has led the team. Along with him, Lev Koshevatskyi, Maksym Zaitsev and Pavlo Burenko changed one capital club for another. Serhii Skira recently moved to Kyiv from Cherkasy.
The updated "Kyiv-Basket" considerably reinforced its play during the season and now is a clear contender for winning one of the awards sets of the national championship.
