"Prometey" ended the another working week with the second, for three days, control match against a representative of the Lithuanian Superleague (LKL). The match against “Pieno Zvaigzdes”, like Friday's confrontation with Juventus, turned out to be very useful for our team, and ended with almost the same winning margin in points. Today's opponent of "Prometey" mostly preaches positional basketball, carefully preparing attacks with the introduction of one of its players for the decisive shot. Along with aggressive play under the backboards, this created some challenges for our team, but in general, they were successfully solved in the course of the game.
It should be noted that the storylines of matches with LKL clubs were fundamentally different. This time there were no "swings" in the match, and probably a minimum of unsuccessful segments. Moreover, they never once allowed the opponent to lead. Only twice the Lithuanian club reduced their retarding to a minimum. In the first case, it was a response to one of Viacheslav Petrov's three consecutive successful three-point shots in the opening of the game. The second one happened in the 9th minute, but with a score of 16:15 in thir own favour, "Prometey" scored five points before the first break, which remained unanswered by the Lithuanians. Oleksandr Sizov added five more points to this success in the opening of the second ten minutes, making a significant 10:0 breakthrough for "Prometey". Oleksandr, together with Serhiy Pavlov and Mantvidas Staniulis, was one of three players who helped the core today. However, Rihard Kukslis, who defended the colors of "Prometey" on Friday, today played for... "Pieno Zvaygzdes" and made two accurate shots from the arc.
In general, the calm progress of the match could be broken in the last minutes, when the opponent's center Pacevicius overpassed DJ Stephens in a powerful manner and reduced the gap to 4 points. However, after that, Stephens successfully played in defence, and then DJ Kennedy and Caleb Agada, today's most effective players of our team, together with Viacheslav Petrov, demonstrated their high individual skill and annulated the question about the winner.
"Prometey" achieved their third victory in the offseason; and in a week, on September 18, our team will hold another sparring match in Riga. The opponent is Latvian “Ventspils”.
