Each season, a ranking of countries and clubs is formed based on the results of the teams' performances in the Champions League.
These ratings help to ensure a transparent and objective process of determining the participation of clubs in each season on a sporting basis. The country rating is used to determine the number of clubs that each country has the right to put up at different stages of the Champions League, and the club rating is used to determine the seed at different stages of the tournament.
The ranking of countries takes into account the results of clubs for the last three seasons. The points are divided by the number of clubs that participate in the tournament in a particular season.

Prior to this season, the best for Ukraine were 11 points by "Khimik", earned in the 2016/17 season (5 points for participation in the group round and 2 for each of the 3 victories). This allowed Ukraine to take 18th place in the ranking of countries participating in the tournament.
Kyiv-Basket scored 2 points in the 2019/20 season for reaching the second qualification round, and Dnipro earned 1 point for participating in the first qualification round of last season.
Prometey has already earned 19 points this season, got qualified for the first time in Ukraine's history and beating the play-in round last week. Thus, "Prometey" scored 5 points for participating in the group stage of the Champions League, 9 points for 3 victories in the group round, 1 point for reaching the play-in and another 4 points for two victories over "Hapoel" in the play-in.
This allows Ukraine currently to be on a record 16th place in the ranking of countries participating in the Champions League.
There are no clear criteria to determin the number of clubs that each country has the right to set up in different stages of the Champions League on the FIBA website, but this season 15 countries have delegated their representatives directly to the group stage.
As for the rating of clubs, thanks to their performances this season, "Prometey" is in 36th position.
This season, this rating would be enough to get to the third basket in the draw of lots in the first group stage.
