With the away match against Dnipro Prometey ended a successful for them 2021. This year our team won two trophies at once - the championship and the Super Cup of the country, currently confidently leads in the Windrose Superleague and worthily represents Ukraine in the Champions League. The victory over Dnipro could be regarded as a wonderful final chord of the year. At the same time, Prometey dealt with a rival who sought to catch up in the top three in case of victory and take revenge for the devastating defeat in November in Slobozhansky.
From the first seconds of the match, Dnipro showed their great mood. They managed both, shots from the perimeter (Pavel Krutous, Sergei Pavlov) and a quick attack, which allowed to win the first five minutes with a score of 18:12. Prometey responded to Dmitry Boldayev's team with an accurate three-point shot by DJ Kennedy (before that D'Angelo Harrison and Illia Sydorov hit from the arc), but continued to defending actions not in the best way. Dnipro confidently won the first quarter, scoring almost 30 points, herewith Issuf Sanon scoring 12.
Already in the second quarter, "Prometey" demonstrated how the team managed to harden in the Champions League. In many matches of this prestigious tournament, the team honorably came out of difficult situations, and today in two and a half minutes they managed to reduce the gap up to two points - 31:33. Oleksandr Belikov and Viacheslav Petrov scored 10 points after the first break with shots from the perimeter, Chris Dowe with a floater and DJ Kennedy with a shot from the middle distance. Dmytro Boldayev took a time-out, but the "red and whites" continued their leap and in one and a half minutes led 39:35. Into the last minute of the quarter, team also came in with the precedence of the guests, but 5 points by "Dnipro" in a row (shot from a distance by Anatoly Shundel and inside shot by Stanislav Timofeenko) brought the host team ahead.
Miro Bilan put an end to the quarter - 51:51, and the equal numbers of the teams in the twenty minutes were also in the rebounds (14 each) and assists (15 each). In the third quarter we could see equal figures three more times, but after the last balance (67:67 in the 27th minute) "Prometey" organized a break of 8:0 and herewith Chris Dowe added the last 6 points in his asset.
The last ten minutes were marked by the complete superiority of "Prometey". When at the beginning of the 34th minute Chris Dowe scored from behind the arc, the handicap of "Prometey" has grown to two dozen points - 90:70. Two minutes later it became +26 and there was no doubt that the "red and whites" will win 22 match in the championship. Dnipro did not have any reserves to strengthen the game: the bench of the reserve team scored only 20 points. For comparison, the players of "Prometey", who came out to the court during the match, recorded 54 points in their assets. One of them, Dmitry Tikhonov, 2 minutes before the final siren managed to "knock out" the team hundred.
"Prometey" perfectly finished the first half of the championship and goes for a short break is in a great mood! The championship for them will resume in the middle of January, but before the home match with MBC "Mykolayiv" our team has to start in the play-in of the Champions League.
