A bigman of “Prometey” and the National team of Ukraine Viacheslav Petrov, on the eve of the control game against Israel, which will be played today at 18:30, told the FBU press-service about our National team preparations. As a reminder, our National team is practising in Riga and in August will play the matches of the Olympic pre-qualification in Istanbul.
- What kind of tasks are set for the team before the third control match?
- As usually, as in any other control match we want to check what works for us and what does not. The main goal for these games is to carry out our plan in defence and offence; and them, after the game we will see what works and what does not. And for sure, we have to play so that we win.
- What are your impressions of the match against Sweden against the backdrop of the game against Lithuania?
- Of course, after the match against Lithuania, in particular after the third quarter, which we failed, we were willing to sum up and work on mistakes. And it was done. After an unsuccessful start of the game against Swedes, already after the long break, we drew conclusions and showed a good result.
- What are your impressions of working with Vitalii Stepanovskyi, who you had worked with in “Khimik” before?
- The approach and process have remained, as it was before, at a high level with a strict discipline. I believe, it must bear its fruits. There is a great working atmosphere in the team. I haven’t seen something like that for quite a long time.
- How pleasant is it for you to be back in the National team?
- For sure, it is always pleasant to work among the best players of your country and it is great to be back to the National team. Especially during the time, when such things are happening in our country. I always wanted to be part of the National team, but there were some nuances, due to which I have missed several windows. So it is very engaging to be here and I am willing only to win together with our National team.
- How would you evaluate the team chemistry a week before the official matches?
- As I have already said, there is working atmosphere in the team. Unfortunately, due to injuries not everyone was able to come to the training camp. But, it is what it is. We will work and do our best to demonstrate the best result with this roster.
