The Prometey women's team a week ago became one of ten clubs who managed to win the first away match of the EuroCup Women's 1/16 finals. At the same time, seven representatives of this list, including the champion of Ukraine, managed to succeed with a difference of "10+" points and thus provide a solid basis for victory in the sum of two matches.
We can say that Victoria Bolshakova's team was already leading with a difference of 14 points in the debute putting the ball into the game. The Swiss club managed to reduce this gap in the first three minutes, when they organized the starting jerk 8:2. At the same time, the Slovenian point guard Oleksandra Croseli, who scored from behind the arc in the first match, scored twice from the perimeter. However, already in one minute, "Prometey" was ahead (10: 8), and Tetiana Yurkevichus recorded 7 points to her asset. In this quarter, the wards of Victoria Bolshakova reached a gap of 9 points, which was reduced by the opponent before the first break to 4.
The second ten minutes began in general with the fact that the Swiss team twice in a row made good use of Dihigo-Bravo in our "paint", which made the score equal (23:23). However, this was the last local success of the opponent. One of the key moments of the match was the jerk of "Prometey" in this quarter 11:0 (7 points scored by Ariel Atkins and 4 - Joyner Holmes). From that moment until the last second of the confrontation, only our team was in the lead, and their handicap was at least at double-digit figure throughout the game. At the end of the quarter, Kateryna Rymarenko entered the game very well. First, she scored after rebound on the opponent’s backboard, and then hit from the perimeter. These points of Kateryna also contributed to the fact that the team went on a long break with the precedence of "Prometey" by almost three dozen points in the sum of two meetings.
It was a very confident game of the "red and whites", not pure mathematics, witnessed in favor of the fact that the result of the two-match confrontation is determined, especially since in this match the personnel choice of the head coach of "Fribourg" was extremely limited. The guests did not manage to fight for the victory in this particular match. In the second half of the match, the opponent could not oppose the inspired game of our team.
At the end of the third quarter, our girls managed several steals in a row, which allowed them to cross the mark of their precedence in two dozen points, and when the final siren sounded - in three dozen. At the same time, the players did not finish the match from the starting five, but this did not affect the quality of the team game.
"Prometey" won according to the sum of two matches with a difference of 45 points and is now waiting for their opponent in the 1/8 finals, which will most likely be the Belgian club "Castors Brain".
